CONTROLS & WRIST MENU Guide

Controllers

Navigating your avatar in Multiverse VR feels intuitive for those familiar with immersive or console gaming. However, many users are new to both VR and console controls.

If you’ve completed the tutorial, you’ve already learned most of what you need to navigate, interact with objects, access menus, and engage with others in Multiverse. But we understand that it can be a lot to take in, so don’t worry if you need a refresher!

Below, we’ll cover both the essential and advanced controls to help you fully explore and interact within Multiverse.

Moving forwards & backwards (THUMBSTICK)

Your Thumbsticks are used for basic forward and backward movement. Pushing a Thumbstick forward will make your avatar take a step forward. Pushing it backward will make your avatar step backward.

Advanced Controls: Pushing both Thumbsticks forward or backward at the same time will double your movement speed.

WARNING: Pushing the Thumbsticks in opposite directions simultaneously (one forward, one backward) will cause your avatar to step forward and backward rapidly. This is not advised, as it may lead to disorientation.

Turning left & right (THUMBSTICK)

Your Thumbsticks are used for turning. Pushing your Thumbstick left will rotate your avatar left. Pushing your Thumbstick right will rotate your avatar right.

Advanced controls: Pushing both Thumbsticks on both your controllers either forward or backward at the same time will cause you to move at twice the speed.

WARNING: Pushing both Thumbsticks in the opposite direction at the same time will cause you step both forwards and backwards rapidly, and is not advised.

Grabbing objects (GRIP)

The (GRIP) button is used to pick up objects or extract items from your inventory. A wide variety of objects in Multiverse can be grabbed and manipulated simply by reaching out and using the (GRIP) button. Release the button to drop the object.

Advanced Controls: Some objects can be grabbed and resized by using the (GRIP) button with both hands. To stretch or shrink an object, hold it with both hands and either pull them apart or push them together.

Display the Discovery Menu (MENU)

The three-line (MENU) button on your left controller opens the Discovery Menu window. Use the (THUMBSTICK) to navigate through the content and the (TRIGGER) button to select or click. On your right controller, you'll find the Oculus/Meta Menu button.

Physical movement of your hands

Some objects — e.g., the green buttons — can be interacted with, without pressing any buttons whatsoever. Simply reach out with your hand and push the button.

Selfies and Photos / Screenshots (B) or (Y)

Press and hold the (B) button to take a selfie and the (Y) button to take a photo or screenshot. You can grab the photo using the (GRIP) button and share it with other users. When holding loot, press the (B) or (Y) button to send the item to your inventory.

Note: You can view all your photos online on your linked Multiverse account.

Teleporting (A) or (X)

The (A) or (X) button can be used to teleport forward or through doors. Holding down (A) or (X) will display a Teleport Arc from the hand pressing the button. While holding it, you can move your hand to aim the arc at the floor in front of you or at specific objects, such as doors. If the arc appears blue, the destination is valid, and releasing the button will teleport you there. If the arc appears red, the selected location cannot be reached via teleportation. These buttons are also used to “press” browser buttons in some of our templates.

Interact / Click (TRIGGER)

The (TRIGGER) button is used to interact or "click" on objects in Multiverse. Whether it's a button, a link bubble, or the Follow Player option, all can be activated using the (TRIGGER) button. You can also press the (TRIGGER) button to use items like keys or toys.

Advanced Control Schemes (smooth motion)

WARNING: FOR ADVANCED VR USERS ONLY.

While we don't recommend this for any but the most robust VR users, it is possible to adjust your controls in the settings menu. Here you can toggle smooth motion, smooth turning and strafing.

Inside Multiverse, most key features and content are conveniently accessible through your Wrist Menu. Think of it as your magical smartwatch — it even tells the time! To view it, simply look at either of your wrists, just like checking a real watch. There, you’ll find the Wrist Menu, which contains a wide range of tools, options, and settings that we’ll detail below.

At the top of the menu, you’ll see your current XP level, your rewards multiplier based on your subscription plan, and a progress bar showing how close you are to leveling up and earning rewards. In the center, you’ll find up to nine clickable folders with features and lists, including the Settings folder in the bottom right. Just below the main folders, you can see your current location — and give it a like by clicking the heart icon!

You’ll also use your Wrist Menu to access Editor options when modifying your plot in the Map Room.

NOTE: To interact with your Wrist Menu, point at an option and press the (TRIGGER) button to select it.

Me

The ME menu folder contains everything related to you—from notifications to personal properties. It’s your go-to place for anything tied to your Multiverse identity.

  • Notifications: View updates about sold properties, received offers, XP gains, and level progress.

  • Metacoins: Purchase additional Metacoins to use throughout the Multiverse.

  • Friends: See your friends list—perfect for finding and joining them wherever they are in the Multiverse.

  • My Metaverses: Access the domains you manage or are a member of. It's a quick shortcut to your personal, private, or public spaces.

  • Home: Instantly teleport back to your Home Room for easy navigation.

  • My Properties: Browse and enter all the properties you own.

  • My Content: Find your photos, screenshots, cloud drives, and personal live streams here.

  • Emojis: Communicate without words using expressive Multiverse emojis!

Inventory

Here you'll find your Loot — such as keys, toys, paperclips, and more — as well as your AI Agent Modules, which allow you to craft and customize your very own AI Agents.

People

This menu folder is where you can find people currently inside Multiverse. If someone is online, in a public space, and not in Safe Mode, they will appear in this list as online.

Individual User

Click on any user to access additional options, such as adding them as a friend, muting or blocking them if they're misbehaving, or joining them if they’re currently online in Multiverse.

Emojis

In the Emoji folder, you’ll find 9 fun emojis to help express how you’re feeling and communicate with others in Multiverse.

Hint: The easiest way to emote is with the Thumbs Up emoji.
Just hold down the (GRIP) and (TRIGGER) buttons for a few seconds while keeping your thumb off the controller —
this will send a Thumbs Up emoji floating into the air.

Metaverses

If you are a member of, or own another Metaverse, you'll find them here in this menu folder. Simply click on any domain and you will instantly teleport yourself there.

Recent

In this folder, you'll find the locations you've recently visited, including your own destinations, other users' spaces, and public areas within Multiverse. Use the Recent folder for a quick and easy way to return to places you've explored.

Mute

This button lets you mute or unmute yourself whenever you don’t want others to hear your voice or any background noise.

Note: When mute is enabled, a crossed-out microphone icon will appear in the bottom left corner of your view.

Safe Mode

This button allows you to toggle Safe Mode on or off. When Safe Mode is enabled, you won’t be able to hear others —
and they won’t be able to hear or see you.

Note: When Safe Mode is active, a crossed-out eye icon will appear in the bottom left corner of your view.

Settings

This menu folder gives you access to advanced features and customization options:

  • Quiet Videos: toggles video volume to a much lower level, making it easier to hold conversations in rooms with loud videos or livestreams. Just remember to turn it off when you're done, as it's easy to forget!

  • Stand Up: adjusts your avatar’s height from sitting to standing with a single click.

  • Smooth Walk: enables smooth forward and backward motion instead of stepped movement. [WARNING: Not recommended for users prone to VR motion sickness.]

  • Smooth Turn: allows for smooth turning rather than stepped rotation. [WARNING: May cause discomfort for those sensitive to VR nausea.]

  • Strafe Zone: lets you move sideways (like a crab) using one of your controllers instead of turning. [WARNING: Use with caution if you're prone to motion sickness.]

  • Test Microphone: helps troubleshoot microphone issues if others can’t hear you. If the problem continues, a headset restart is recommended.

  • Apartment Beacons: toggles visibility of your apartment beacons to make it easier to find your properties.

Infiniverse Map

When you enter the Infiniverse, your Metaverses button in the center will automatically convert into a Map button. From there, you can view your current location and explore the surrounding area.

  • See your surroundings: the map displays nearby properties, storefronts, and plots for sale.

  • Filter your view: click the menu icon in the top right corner of the map to adjust what you see based on your interests— such as Properties for Sale, Stores, Top Investors, or Plots for Sale.

  • Return to your location: click the navigation icon in the bottom right corner to re-center the map on your current position.

  • View plot details: click on a plot icon or the address shown below the map to open ownership details in the Discovery Menu. From there, you can teleport to the Map Room by clicking the View button.

  • Zoom in or out: adjust the zoom level to see street names clearly or to view the broader area.

  • Street name display: the name of the street you're currently on is displayed just below the map.
