What is The Big Give?
It’s the UK’s biggest match-funding campaign allowing charities to have their donations doubled for one week only.
Following on from our success last year, we’re getting ready to raise £25,000 to bring clean, safe water for 15 communities in rural Tanzania.
What we did last year

We built 15 wells, beating our target of 10
People in Kigoma now spend 87% less time collecting water
Clean water is an average of only 200m away, compared to 4km before
5 community access centres and 10 primary schools now have safe water

About TDT and our boreholes
Tanzania Development Trust (TDT) is a volunteer-led UK charity that has been supporting grassroots development in rural Tanzania since 1975. We focus on community-driven projects that make a lasting difference, from girls’ education to environmental protection. One of our biggest priorities is improving access to safe, reliable water.
In many remote areas of Tanzania, families rely on streams, ponds, or shallow hand-dug wells — often far from home and unsafe to drink. Girls in particular bear the burden of collecting water, which keeps them out of school and puts them at risk. That’s why we fund boreholes: deep, professionally drilled wells that bring clean groundwater to the heart of a village. Every borehole we fund is requested and led by local communities, overseen by our trusted network of Tanzanian volunteers.
